DESCHUTES TWO DAY GETAWAY
Thank you for inquiring about our two-day/one night Deschutes River Getaway. The Deschutes River provides an outdoor adventure with a natural paradise for splashing, sunning, fishing, and just plain relaxing. With 36 miles of fun, we will conquer many exciting rapids and enjoy the quiet moments of calm water.
Our trip will begin at Trout Creek campground. After a short training session with one of our certified guides, your adventure will get underway with Trout Creek Rapids, a fun class 2-3. This is followed by several miles of placid water mixed with smaller rapids perfect for sunbathing in the morning rays. Several more minor rapids and a deli lunch will precede the famous Whitehorse rapids.
Whitehorse (Class 3+) is best known for its length and immediate excitement. Immediate because we will plunge 25 feet in the first 300 yards and drop over 75 feet of vertical through the entire 2 miles of continuous rapids.
Camp will be established near Buckskin Mary Rapids (Class 3), known for its large standing waves and big drop. After camp is arranged, you may choose to catch a quick snooze (sun style) or try your luck at the many 2-8 pound trout located just beyond arms reach. Dinner will be a gourmet’s delight prepared by your guides.
Day two sees the majority of the whitewater on your getaway beginning with Wapinitia (Class 3) and Boxcar Rapids (Class 3). We will conclude our trip in the town of Maupin (population 500), with a hearty and delicious riverside lunch.
Your vehicle will be waiting at the take out if you choose to use our shuttle service. There is an additional charge for this service. Your other option is to have a friend drop you at the put-in and pick you up at the take-out. You should be on your way home by 4:00 pm.
